Ok, I could write a bunch on this one. Our pastor brought it back from Branson MO just for me. Upon tasting it we decided to rename it "Our Pastor made us cry" Then he preached hellfire and brimstone and there was a lot of groaning. LOL
No seriously it is the best hot sauce I've tasted. Packs a lot of heat with a slow burn that builds then subsides after about 10 minutes. That was with a sizzle stick just dipped in it and tasted. You know it's jolokia when you taste it, it has that signature taste. I absolutely love it. yumo yumo.

It's starting to get cold now, it was 25* this morning but warmed up in the 50's this afternoon. I can't believe its almost Dec 1st and we haven't had any bad weather at all. They say it's going to be a mild winter so everyone will be saying something about the ticks. When its 20 below, the one good thing is it will kill all the ticks, mild winters, bad, gonna have all kinds of ticks. Must be a local thing, I don't know. LOL.

First day back to work after a week off and nothing changed. Everyone saved up all their problems and tried to tell them to me in about 2 hours. UGH!!!

Mark another one off the bucket list...

Well we made it again, out to Tennessee and back to Oklahoma. Good to be home again. :-) I didn't get much of a pepper crop this year. I ended up hanging what puny little peppers I had and am now picking them off and drying them.

There's a place in Charleston MO called Boomland that advertises Hot Sauces. I've been wanting to stop there for the last couple of years and see what they had. They only had a small portion of the store dedicated to sauces and that's all they had, no powders or other concoctions. They had a zillion and one Hot Sauces to pick from and it would have taken me all day to look at them all, so I went with the world famous Dave's insanity sauce and another called Pure Habanero Red Savina. I almost went with Frostbite made from Bhuts, but figured I wouldn't like the taste. Well I was disappointed with all of it!! I couldn't believe Dave's insanity sauce, after all I'd heard about it, was the most horrible tasting crap I ever tasted!! It was VERY BITTER with somewhat of a burn, then it tears your stomach up. The Red Savina sauce was not hot at all and tasted vinegary. I kinda wished I had got the Frostbite but I think I would have been disappointed in that too. BUT, the good thing is I marked it off my bucket list. So now I am thinking, I could make my own hot sauce with Caribbean reds and whatever else I can manage to grow and it will be better than what I bought.

Thanksgiving was good, ended up we had the bird...altho it be chicken and all the sides and good company. We have soooooo much to be thankful for here in America. So if you're reading this, I hope you had a good Thanksgiving!!

This is NOT a Devil's Tongue but a Cubanelle Pepper. It's considered a sweet pepper but I ran across an article that stated it may have mild to moderate heat. Well I ate one and it was hot. It rated about 3-5 on the scovie scale and rated along with a jalapeno. They are good little peppers and I am seriously considering growing some next year. An unexpected success afterall.

I've been told this is probably not a scotch bonnet but I haven't come up with a name for it yet. I'm hoping it will be hot as blazes. It shows no signs of ripening.

All I can say is WOW, Holy Crap. What a pepper. I cut it lenghtwise then cut 1/3 of it off. I chewed it up really good! There was no hint of heat and I REALLY enjoyed the flavor! It taste like a fruity cherry pepper. Juicy too. 30 seconds later I began to feel a touch of heat. About 5 seconds later I felt like someone had burnt the hide off my tongue. Here we go with the tears and sweating and runny nose! Good burn lasting about 10 minutes before subsiding. Nice warm glow at 20 minutes. I checked my tongue a couple hours later and I think I see where it burned holes in it. Yeah. Good pepper. Definitely have to grow some more of these babies.

Yes, they are all beaut's as far as I'm concerned. Some of the little buggars are having a hard time. This year I've got some Bhut Jolokias, Devils Tongue, (I hear they are the same as a Red Savina) Scotch Bonnets, Piri Piri, Hungarian Hot Wax, Lemon Drops and a few more that may or may not make it. I had tons of Trinidad Chili Trees come up but they are still to little to transplant. I also have one called a Habanero Tree. I am not having any luck at all with Petins and I want them so bad. Maybe next year.

Spring is here again and things are sprouting out which does my heart glad. I have been busy getting the garden ready for summer produce. Hard to believe in 2-3 months this yard will be a jungle of delights. :-) The plum blooms frame the garlic and strawberries and what will be the spot for greenbeans and cucumbers. The furrows inbetween will be the home of hot peppers.

I obtained some trinidad chili tree seeds off the internet. I got two of them to grow. It does grow like a small tree. First tastes, it had no heat. I was excited because my husband loves the taste of hot peppers but can't take the heat. A second taste revealed it has to be some kind of habanero. It packs a punch!! Looks like one too. I'm excited that I may actually have another hab to add to my collection of orange and caribean reds.

As you can see from the bottom photo, it starts out with 6 trash bags of almonds still in hulls. After hulling the sticky buggars, washing them, I end up with appx 9 gallons of nuts. After cracking them the end result is about a gallon and a half of finished nuts. Lots of work. I felt like a squirrel.
